Music for Mushrooms is an 82-minute narrative feature film, an ode to the transformative potential of art and introspection in a world aching for healing and connection. The narrative documentary highlighting the personal journey of shamanistic musician and filmmaker East Forest (Krishna-Trevor Oswalt), a collaborator of the late Ram Dass, whose bold experiments pair music with guided psychedelic experiences to create spaces of healing for a fractured world.
The film weaves Forest’s personal journey with the intimate stories of others who are navigating grief, depression, healing, and self-discovery. Rather than focusing on scientific or historical explanations, it emphasizes shared humanity, vulnerability, and emotional connection. Much of the soundtrack is composed of live, improvised music created during mushroom ceremonies, reinforcing the film’s immersive tone.
Perspectives from scientists, indigenous elders, and participants add depth without overshadowing the human narrative. Overall, the film seeks to inspire compassion, social bonding, and meaningful dialogue through a collective viewing experience.

Just outside of the gates of Ruigoord there is free space to park your car (navigate to here). From there it is a couple of minutes walk to the Salon.
