About Aukai
Intimate yet spacious, warm and evocative, Aukai takes the listener on an inward journey of cinematic tone poems and ambient acoustic soundscape to a place of stillness and tranquil beauty.
Aukai was born of composer/instrumentalist Markus Sieber’s desire to create music in a form of “Instrumental short stories” The phrase is an apt one. Moody, evocative, delicately ligreed, the pieces are brief, but haunting. They stay with the listener long
after the sounds have faded, like gently melting snow on a sunny hillside.
All feature Aukai’s nuanced, expressive touch of the Charango, a plucked mandolin-like string instrument from the Andes, which took centre stage on most of his work so far.
“It has an otherworldly, mesmerizing, dreamy sound, that I love,” he explains. “It comes from the Andes, and it’s sound literally transmits the experience of being up high in the mountains, a sensation of space and freedom.”

De Duif is located 15 minutes by public transport from Amsterdam Central Station. Nearby parking is not easy and not advised. We advise you to come by public transport or use your bicycle.
